This is a message to everyone who we have had the honor to share space with, in-person at one of our events, digitally through our social media, perhaps even just through e-mail.
We are reaching out to you today to remind you, during this very challenging and uncertain time, that you are a valued member of the Sacred Fire Foundation community and we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of yours.
This is a time of great transformation for humanity and Mother Earth. The choices we make now… today… can lead to a stronger, more compassionate and caring global community. We can identify our common purpose and find comfort in knowing that we are not alone.
Stillness and quiet seem to be permeating our lives. However, Mother Earth is speaking loudly and asking us to listen. She is asking us to be good stewards. She is asking for us to take care of her and each other. She is asking for us to remember all that she provides for us. She is asking us to return to a time when we remembered to give gratitude for providing us everything we need.
For me, this time has reinforced my own belief that challenges present opportunities. By working in partnership, finding ways to collaborate and form alliances, we will find our way – together.
Now, more than ever, this is an opportunity for us to learn what our Indigenous sisters and brothers have known for thousands of years. That we are interconnected, interdependent, and the decisions we make today will impact the next generations. Therefore, we must choose wisely. How we respond now may very well be the most important thing we have ever done in our lives.
A few nights ago, I was invited to join a webinar hosted by our dear friend Cathy Mines, CHT, RIHR, YES, Author of Eight Sacred Responsibilities, with highly respected Mohawk Elder, Diane Longboat. Diane has been a frequent speaker at our Voices of Wisdom events and is an advisor to the foundation and our esteemed Elders Council.
People from around the United States and Canada joined to hear Diane’s message for these times. She reminded us that Everything Is Sacred. That we need to live in hope, not fear. We are being asked to return to the land and remember that the code of life is written on the land. If we ask for instructions from the land and the living beings who dwell there, we will recreate balance. We are being awakened and humbled – the change we have prayed for is here.
I am grateful for Diane’s wisdom and I am honored to share the recording with you here: https://vimeo.com/399306350
Sacred Fire Foundation, with our many partners, Indigenous Wisdom Keepers, and Elders, is working to connect and be in community in new ways. This is not to replace our in-person offerings such as Voices of Wisdom or our Wisdom Treasure Award but rather to share this vital knowledge as widely as possible, guiding us through these times through online events, community groups,
and gatherings.
Now, more than ever, in the wisdom and worldview of Indigenous cultures lie the answers to the questions we are asking. Together we can co-create a new way of living and a new world rooted in the knowledge that we are a part of something bigger than ourselves.
We invite you to follow us on social media and share our newsletter with others who are seeking ways to connect, find comfort and be in community.

We are living in the time that the ancestors dreamed for us. What will we dream for the ancestors yet to come?
