The project aims to support three Kisii communities to become a model of community-based sustainable development by building on their traditional knowledge (TEK) and natural resource management systems. By combining TEK with innovative and technologically advanced community-controlled mapping, monitoring and information systems and with increased economic productivity both for human wellbeing and for biodiversity, a whole-systems approach will be implemented. This will also counter threats to endangered species, develop recovery plans and address invasive alien species.

Their goal for 2022 is to promote the protection of sacred places, forests, foods, and songs that pass a message from one generation to another among the Maasai and Kisii communities. This will restore and preserve herbs and keep a legacy of rich traditions among the beneficiary communities.
