This project will be promoted in the community of Chilolja’, municipality of San Juan Cancuc, Chiapas, Mexico, one of the most marginalized in the country. Bats ́il seeks to undertake training processes aimed at Indigenous young people between 10 and 19 years of age to strengthen the processes of identity and roots of the Tseltal culture, ensuring the continuation of the Tseltal Indigenous values. Therefore, preserving and keeping alive the cultural heritage of tseltal, is and will be of benefit to present generations and those yet to come.
These processes will be carried out through:
- training in appreciation of traditional musical composition targeted at Indigenous youth and facilitated by youth leaders, grandmothers and grandfathers;
- undertake processes of documentation and systematization of Tseltal cultural heritage of the community of Chiloljá;
- enforce the right to defend, preserve and reinforce our Tseltal culture opening spaces for youth participation;
- document the experience, to generate knowledge and socialize about good practices; and the formation of a musical group, which uses traditional music as instrument to form a traditional youth music group.
