Will protect the sacred traditions of Maasai culture through beekeeping and the use of honey in ceremony, healing, and nutrition. It will also expand the opportunities for sustaining healthy livelihoods in these changing times of land ownership, climate change, allowing the Maasai community to thrive.
This project is done within the Medungi Conservation organization, an Indigenous organization founded and led by members of the Maji Moto Maasai community in 2011 to secure their land and sustain traditional livelihood through sustainable conservation and culturally sensitive initiatives. The organization works with Maasai communities to adopt lifestyles that are friendly to the environment and to engage in development and economic activities that secure their livelihoods while minimizing impacts to the environment through spiritual and cultural traditions.
