“Nii Juinti is my dream, Mother Nature’s dream, of protecting this profound and sacred knowledge, that heals and makes us hole again. Since March of this year, the school is operating, every day we witness the happiness and hope in the eyes of these beautiful children. We are joyful and full of enthusiasm and inspiration to continue to share this knowledge and keep it safe in the hands of these blessed children.”

Founder and director of the school
The “Nii Juinti” school is an ongoing after-school program whose mission is to pass on the Shipibo ancestral culture to the new generations of Shipibo children in order to preserve and deepen the precious ancestral knowledge of their Peoples. One of the main objectives of Nii Juinti is to give the children access to the medicinal knowledge of wise elders so that this precious art, a real treasure of all mankind, may prosper and grow.
SFF awarded Nii Juinti a grant in 2015 to support the opening of the school. In its first year, the school has welcomed 10 Shipibo children, 5 boys and 5 girls, aged between 11 to 14, that came from humble families that were not able to fulfill their primary needs.
The school is planning on having a total of 20 students in the second school year.
