Red Table Wisdom Talks is a web-based outreach project designed to share traditional teachings with people of all nationalities across North America, Central America, South America, and beyond with the aim of bringing peace and hope to those in quarantine from the COVID-19 pandemic. As the pandemic persists, non-Indigenous people, particularly young people, seek the ancient values and ways of Indigenous people to help them re-envision and build a better society post pandemic. The Red Table Wisdom Talks raise up Indigenous people and their knowledge systems, imparting spiritual values and wisdom, while supporting their spiritual leaders and Elders.
The COVID-19 pandemic has mobilized Indigenous communities to ready themselves. Spiritual leadership is reviving the medicine societies, calling for community-wide prayer, and rallying helpers to support the Elders. The Red Table Wisdom Talks project recognizes that the Indigenous communities’ approach to the pandemic’s devastation holds the key to improving lives. These true wisdom keepers can lead the way forward as everyone rebuilds in the era following COVID-19.
The Red Table Wisdom Talks will help listeners understand the spiritual values practiced by Indigenous people and the necessary relationship to the land. It is often echoed, “If you do not fall in love with creation, you will never defend it.” The Red Table Wisdom Talks offer an opportunity to fall in love.
